Computer Lab

The Linux machines in the Physics Computer Lab offer students a variety of software and computing options. Running Linux Fedora 12 on Intel Pentium 4 processors, these machines can be used for word processing, data base handling, general compiling in C/C++ or Fortran, internet browsing and networking at 100BASE-T speeds, terminal usage, remote login, printing, graphics editing, and much more. As well, the Linux machines provide the students with access to the UNR Citrix Server for more sophisticated software needs in the mathematical and engineering aspect.

The Windows portion of the lab features eight AMD powered computers, each boasting an Athlon 64 4000+ processor with 2GB of memory. They are all running Windows XP Professional. There is a good variety of software available and lab users can have more extensive software needs filled by requesting it at the front office.
